What 𗩑 means
A Tangut dictionary glosses this word as “law.”
Under Western Xia around 1036, Tangut writing served state and Buddhist texts. It drew on Chinese and neighboring Khitan script traditions but recorded a separate language. Its civic, military and literary texts included translations from Chinese or Tibetan. It continued under Yuan and Ming after Western Xia fell. The earliest surviving document is a 1072 official report to a military inspector; a stone inscription from 1502 is a later example.
