What 𗪭 means
It points to a time before the one being discussed.
The reconstructed reading is written [nə]: n followed by a short, neutral vowel [ə]. Tangut is extinct, so this is a scholarly reconstruction, not a word heard in everyday speech today.
Why was Tangut writing created?
Western Xia created it for government and a distinct state identity.
In 1036, Emperor Li Yuanhao established the script as part of building Western Xia (Xixia). Its design drew on Chinese writing and the state scripts of the Khitan, a neighboring people who also developed writing for government.
Tangut writing appears in Buddhist, legal, and administrative texts, including translations. A surviving Khara-Khoto manuscript is probably from the 12th or early 13th century; Tangut writing outlasted Western Xia.
Tone: a historical Tangut time word in written texts.
A missing-glyph box can appear at render time when no Tangut-capable font is available.

1Questions people ask
1Why does 𗪭 show as a box on some devices?
Not every system ships a font for the Tangut block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.

𗪭\17AADWhy is 𗪭 a box on my screen?
fsymbols draws rare signs with its own fonts, so they show here even where your device has none. An app or website without such a font shows an empty box (□) or a question mark instead. Turn our fonts off to see each sign as your device draws it by itself: a box here means a box in your chats and documents too.
Codes and encoding1 code points
