What 𗫬 means
Tangut dictionaries gloss 𗫬 as “suffering.” The same gloss appears in a modern index and a wordbook analysis.
The script may have begun under Li Deming, Western Xia’s second ruler, using Chinese and neighboring Khitan writing as models. His son Li Yuanhao standardized it around 1036; Tangut writing was obsolete by the end of the Ming dynasty.
Historical and specialist; its gloss comes from Tangut texts.
Tangut is a distinct script; its Chinese-like form does not make 𗫬 Chinese.
