tangut ideograph-17be0

Tangut Character 17BE0

3041/6136

𗯠 is a character in Tangut writing, also called Xixia, the historic script used for the Tangut language. The script was created around 1036 to write that language; records show it in official, private, and Buddhist texts, and use continued after Western Xia fell before it became obsolete by the end of the Ming dynasty. “Tangut Ideograph-17BE0” is a code-based label, not a translation.

Why does 𗯠 show as a box on some devices?

Not every system ships a font for the Tangut block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
