What 𗰻 means
It means “to fear” or “be afraid” in Tangut.
Tangut wordbook entry L1793 glosses it as “to fear”; a Chinese-language study gives the matching sense “fear.” Scholars transcribe its reconstructed reading as ²lhi₄.
How did Tangut relate to Chinese writing?
Tangut adapted Chinese-style character-building ideas to write a different language.
The Tangut script was formally created in 1036 for the Western Xia state. It recorded Tangut and carried translations of major Chinese and Tibetan works.
The earliest transmitted Tangut document is dated 1072. Tangut writing continued after Western Xia fell in 1227; a surviving inscription was erected in 1502. The wider period also saw the Khitan and Jurchen scripts.
How do I type 𗰻?
Use a Tangut-aware input method.
A standard Latin keyboard has no dedicated key for 𗰻. Rime is an input-method framework; its Tangut schemas can accept reconstructed Latin input, strokes, or Four Corner codes.
A historical, scholarly word; outside Tangut studies, its meaning is opaque.
If someone needs to understand that you are afraid, say it in words.
