What 𗴒 means
It describes fear or being afraid. Scholars transcribe it as kaq₄, roughly “ka” with a tense vowel; q marks the vowel, and 4 its class.
The Tangut script was created around 1036 for the Western Xia state and its language. Its square forms resemble Chinese writing, but Tangut is a separate script. Fonts may draw its strokes differently without changing the character.
A wordbook containing 𗴒 was auctioned in Beijing in 2014; its entry gives the meaning “to fear.” As of 2026, it has no established everyday chat meaning.
Historical and scholarly, not conversational.
Alone, it won’t reliably mean “I’m afraid.”

Questions people ask
1Why does 𗴒 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
