What 𗸐 means
It means “diligent” in Tangut.
Tangut word lists give its sense as diligent effort or working diligently. A scholarly reconstruction writes its pronunciation as *ꞏjɨr²; the marks are linguistic notation, not extra characters to enter.
Why was Tangut writing created?
It gave the Western Xia state a distinct written culture. In 1036, Emperor Li Yuanhao ordered it to support a Tangut collection of Buddhist scriptures and to mark a distinct identity from Song China.
The script carried translations of Chinese works, Buddhist writing, encyclopedias, military texts, literature, and secular teaching material.
It followed earlier Khitan state-script experiments and drew on the shapes and composition of Chinese writing without deriving from Chinese. A manuscript from Khara Khoto, now in the British Library, probably dates to the 12th or early 13th century.
Historical and specialist: a Tangut word whose meaning depends on knowing the language.
Without Tangut context, don’t expect a reader to infer “diligent” from the glyph alone.
