tangut ideograph-17e42

Tangut Character 17E42

3651/6136

𗹂 is a Tangut-script character for the Tangut language. Made for the Western Xia state around 1036 to support state identity and a Buddhist canon, this distinct script took cues from Chinese writing and followed the earlier example of neighboring Khitan people. It continued through Yuan and Ming rule after Western Xia fell in 1227, becoming obsolete by the Ming’s end. Unicode’s name is number-based, not a translation.

Why does 𗹂 show as a box on some devices?

Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
