What 𗹅 means
As of 2026-09-22, this graph has no settled English gloss.
A Tangut dictionary index records the reconstructed reading khjiw². This is scholarly roman-letter notation, not an English translation; its sounds cannot be read off by applying ordinary English spelling.
The Tangut court under Li Yuanhao commissioned the script in 1036 as part of building a Tangut state. A central goal was a Buddhist canon, a collection of Buddhist texts. Later books translated Chinese and Tibetan works and preserved secular writing. A Khara-khoto manuscript probably dates to the 12th or early 13th century; that dates the manuscript, not 𗹅 itself.
How do I type 𗹅 without a Tangut keyboard?
Use Tangut input or a Unicode-aware character picker.
A Tangut input method using Miyake pronunciation input selects characters by a reconstructed reading. A Unicode-aware editor or character picker can also enter U17E45.
Display requires a Tangut-capable font. If you see a blank box, the font lacks this glyph; it is a rendering problem, not a different character.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𗹅 show as a box on some devices?
Not every system ships a font for the Tangut block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
