What 𗻨 means
Its dictionary match is 從; the surrounding text decides the sense.
Li Fanwen’s Tangut–Chinese index lists it as L2008-3165 and records a reconstructed reading in scholarly Latin-letter notation: “rjir.” The notation is a lookup clue, not an English translation; the exact sense depends on the surrounding Tangut text. The Unicode label identifies the code point rather than translating the character.
Why did the Tanguts create their own script?
To serve the Western Xia state’s written tradition and Buddhist scriptures.
The Tangut script was created about 1036 under Western Xia ruler Li Yuanhao. It supported the Tangut-led state’s written tradition and collection of Buddhist scriptures. Visually inspired by Chinese writing but not derived from Chinese characters, it carried Buddhist, legal, official, and literary texts.
Tangut writing continued into the Yuan and Ming dynasties. The latest-known inscription is dated 1502.
It reads as historical or scholarly material, not casual-chat shorthand.
A lone message gives too little context for a reliable reaction reading.
