What 𗻯 means
Its dictionary gloss is broad: a kind of grass. The scholarly transcription is zur².
In 1036, Li Yuanhao, ruler of Western Xia, ordered Tangut writing for government, Buddhist texts, and state identity. Tangut characters combine parts in a way influenced by Chinese writing, but Tangut is a separate script. A manuscript from Khara-Khoto probably dates to the 12th or early 13th century.
