What 𗻼 means
A Tangut dictionary indexes it under “man.” In the historical glossary Handful of Pearls, it also serves as a phonetic gloss: a character that cues the sound of another entry.
The Tangut script was developed under Western Xia’s first emperor around 1036 for official and cultural writing. It later appeared in official, private, and religious texts. Its visual forms drew on Chinese and Khitan writing, but it is a separate script.
