What 𗽁 means
Its dictionary gloss is “tile.” A Western Xia-era inventory lists 𗽁 among its goods.
Is this Chinese writing or Tangut?
It is Tangut, a separate script. The Western Xia court commissioned it in 1036 to write Tangut, its state language. Its forms drew on Chinese writing, but this character is not Chinese.
Tangut writing continued in Buddhist works after the Western Xia state fell to Mongol armies in 1227.
