What 𘂥 means
Enter U180A5 with Unicode input; display it in a Tangut font.
Typing and display are separate: a code-point input method can insert the character, but the receiving app still needs a Tangut glyph. Dedicated Tangut tools offer code-based or dictionary-based modes, so their shortcuts depend on the loaded scheme.
A font without Tangut characters may show a box or another missing-glyph mark, even when the code point was entered correctly.
What does 𘂥 mean?
A Tangut dictionary translates 𘂥 as “grey.” The English index to Li Fanwen’s Tangut dictionary assigns it entry 5968; Unicode’s Tangut source mapping links the glyph to L2008-5968.
The Tangut script was created in 1036 under Li Yuanhao to support the Western Xia state, its Buddhist canon (a collected body of scripture), and an identity distinct from Song China. It followed Chinese writing principles and developed alongside Khitan scripts, writing systems used by the neighboring Khitan people. Surviving Tangut texts include Buddhist scripture and translations from Chinese. The year 1036 marks the script’s creation, not the first use of this individual character.
