What 𘅍 means
It sets the time or circumstance under discussion.
“Time” is the basic gloss. In the Buddhist work The Mirror, scholars also describe it as a conjunction, a word linking clauses.
How did Tangut writing begin?
Western Xia commissioned the Tangut script in 1036.
The court commissioned it to express the state’s identity and create a Buddhist canon, a collection of sacred texts. Inspired by Chinese writing, it was made for the Tangut language; later works included Buddhist, Confucian, and military texts.
If 𘅍 appears as a box, your font cannot display Tangut; choose a font with Tangut support.

1Why does 𘅍 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
