Tangut Ideograph 18166

4455/6136

“S1968-4780” is a source reference, not a translation of 𘅦. Western Xia created Tangut writing in 1036 for Buddhist translation and a distinct state identity. The earliest surviving document is dated 1072; a 1502 inscription shows the script remained in use after the state fell. It was visually and structurally inspired by Chinese writing without deriving from it; nearby Khitan scripts had already set a regional precedent.

Why does 𘅦 show as a box on some devices?

Not every system ships a font for the Tangut block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
