What 𘇤 means
This Tangut verb means “to tease.”
Tangut is a distinct historical language and script; its Chinese-like appearance does not make it Chinese. Khitan is a neighboring historical tradition, not a Tangut variant.
The script was developed at the Western Xia court in the 11th century for state writing, and also appeared in private and Buddhist texts. It remained in use after the dynasty fell, then became obsolete and was rediscovered in the late 19th century.
As of 2026, present-day use is tied to Tangut study, historical-text work, and font design.
A bare 𘇤 cannot tell you whether someone is teasing you; this gloss comes from historical Tangut.
