What 𘈻 means
Its recorded reading gives a sound, not a translation.
A reconstructed reading is scholars' best estimate of the character's sound; its Tangut word and surrounding passage show what it means.
Tangut writing was modeled on Chinese and Khitan scripts; the Khitan were another people of the region, and the script wrote a distinct language. The Western Xia state promulgated it in 1036 for administration, monuments, books, and Buddhist translations. After the state fell, Tangut writing remained on religious monuments, including inscribed Buddhist pillars at Baoding in 1502.
Historical reference; read it in a Tangut text.
In a browser without a Tangut-capable font, 𘈻 may appear as a missing-glyph box; that is a display failure, not another character.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𘈻 show as a box on some devices?
Not every system ships a font for the Tangut block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
