What 𘎢 means
It is glossed as “to beat.”
The English index to a Tangut dictionary gives that gloss for this character. Its square shape does not show the English meaning, and resemblance to Chinese characters does not make it Chinese.
With no surrounding Tangut text or translation, the gloss identifies the verb but not why someone sent it.
Why was Tangut writing created?
It gave the Tangut language a writing system for state and cultural life.
Created around 1036 under Western Xia rule, Tangut writing served government, private life, and religion. Texts included books, Buddhist sutras, inscriptions, and manuscripts, along with Chinese and Buddhist works translated into Tangut. Writing continued after Western Xia fell in 1227, in Yuan and Ming settings, before becoming obsolete by the end of the Ming dynasty.
Tangut writing drew on Chinese writing practices and looks broadly similar, but Tangut is a separate script and language. This character is not a Chinese character or variant.
Historical and scholarly; use it in Tangut text or as a clearly labeled reference to the script.
Without Tangut context or a gloss, you cannot tell why someone sent it.

Questions people ask
2Is 𘎢 Chinese?
No. Tangut is a separate historical script for the Tangut language. Its writing drew on Chinese practices, but this glyph is not a Chinese character.
Why does 𘎢 show as a box?
It can. A font or text app without Tangut coverage may show a missing-glyph box. A Tangut-capable font can display the character; the box is a rendering failure, not a replacement character.
