What 𘓀 means
It means “to stew” in Tangut.
Li Fanwen’s Tangut–Chinese dictionary, a reference that translates Tangut words into Chinese, glosses it as “to stew” and records its scholarly Latin-letter reading as wie.
Created around 1036 CE under Western Xia’s first emperor, Tangut writing served the kingdom’s Tangut language. It appeared in official, private and religious texts, Buddhist sutras, inscriptions and manuscripts. The script later entered scholarship and digital type design; it can resemble Chinese writing but is distinct.
