tangut ideograph-1850f

Tangut character 𘔏

5392/6136

𘔏 is a Tangut character; its Unicode name is a catalog label, not its reading or meaning. The script was introduced in 1036 under Western Xia rule to support state identity and Buddhist scripture. Its design drew on Chinese character conventions and followed earlier Khitan scripts, yet remained a distinct system. Tangut texts also carried government records and secular translations.

Why does 𘔏 show as a box on some devices?

Not every system ships a font for the Tangut block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
