What 𘕤 means
Scholars reconstruct the Tangut reading ²u₃ for 𘕤, “to seek.”
Raised and lowered numerals in ²u₃ are scholars’ notation for Tangut readings, not strokes or keystrokes. If it shows as a box, your app or font may lack Tangut glyph support.
In 1036, Western Xia ordered Tangut writing for government use and Buddhist scripture translation. The neighboring Khitan also had scripts; Tangut took visual and structural inspiration from Chinese writing but remained distinct. A manuscript from Khara-Khoto, a ruined city, probably dates to the 12th or early 13th century. Texts from the site include Confucian teachings, military manuals, reference books, literature, and Buddhist works.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𘕤 show as a box on some devices?
Not every system ships a font for the Tangut block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.

fsymbols draws rare signs with its own fonts, so they show here even where your device has none. An app or website without such a font shows an empty box (□) or a question mark instead. Turn our fonts off to see each sign as your device draws it by itself: a box here means a box in your chats and documents too.
