What 𘞹 means
It covers travel, military campaigning, and tax collection.
The reconstructed reading is written djɨ in scholarly Latin transcription. Li Fanwen’s dictionary index pairs it with Chinese 征, whose gloss spans these senses.
Why does Tangut writing look Chinese?
It borrowed Chinese forms but remained a separate script.
Created under Western Xia around 1036, the script served the state and Buddhist writing. The earlier Khitan script provided a model for state-sponsored writing, and Tangut works also translated Chinese texts. A manuscript from Khara-Khoto, where Tangut texts survived, probably dates to the 12th or early 13th century. Tangut writing continued into the Yuan and Ming eras before falling out of use.

1Why does 𘞹 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
