tetragram for completion

Tetragram for Completion

79/87

𝍎 is the “Completion” tetragram in the Tai Xuan Jing, a Chinese divination text: it names one phase in a changing reading, not a general “done” status. Its completion phase can still lead to decline, so the label does not promise success.

Text symbol

What 𝍎 means

It names a stage called Completion in the Tai Xuan Jing.

Yang Xiong, a Han-era Chinese scholar, composed the Tai Xuan around 2 BCE. The work draws on the older Yijing (“Book of Changes”), a Chinese divination text.

It uses named four-line signs, called tetragrams; each sign’s line pattern and name guide a changing reading. Unlike the Yijing’s two line forms, Tai Xuan signs use three.

Does “Completion” mean the task is done?

No; it marks a phase, not a finished status.

The book’s appraisals include commencement, maturity, and decline around the completion sign; its cycle can continue into decline. The gloss does not promise that a real-world task ended safely.

Later editors arranged the material around individual tetragrams. In modern scholarship, the book is also read as cosmology, ethical teaching, or political commentary.

What if someone sends 𝍎 alone?

Treat it as a niche Tai Xuan reference, not a status update.

Use a short gloss unless the recipient knows the Tai Xuan Jing. In scholarship, historical typesetting, or a font-support discussion, the character identifies the sign precisely.

In a browser, 𝍎 may appear as a box when the chosen font and its fallback lack coverage; that display failure does not change its meaning.

Specialist and archival; explain the reference outside Tai Xuan discussions.

Do not read “Completion” as a universal “done” reaction.
