What ⩶ means
It has no fixed mathematical meaning on its own.
The triple-equals symbol is a shape, not a rule: a paper or formula must define what relation it represents. Three strokes alone do not mean identity, congruence, or definition.
A 1999 proposal from the STIX Project—a collaboration of scientific societies and publishers—listed it among math and technical symbols to encode for scientific publishing. That record documents its place in typesetting history, not an assigned mathematical reading.
is ⩶ the same as ===
No: ⩶ is one character, while === is three.
Unicode compatibility normalization maps ⩶ to the three-character string ===. That fallback explains why software can replace the glyph, but it does not define the notation or make the string interchangeable in every context.
In JavaScript, === compares values without converting different types. That strict-equality rule belongs to the ASCII three-character operator, not automatically to ⩶.
Technical and specialized; a formula should define the relation before readers infer one.
Do not substitute it for JavaScript’s strict-equality operator.

1Why does ⩶ show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.

A visible symbol can contain several code points. JS .length counts UTF-16 units; UTF-8 counts bytes.
