What ⧝ means
No; one historical report does not establish a universal rule. In a 2014 W3C Math mailing-list reply, a contributor calls ⧝ a rare variant and connects it with “big” infinity. Read a particular formula through the definitions its author gives.
Questions people ask
1Why does ⧝ show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
