What ⧾ means
It applies the Tiny operator to a game position. The resulting value is above zero but smaller than every ordinary positive number. In ⧾₍G₎, G names the game being evaluated; in English, Tiny sounds like “tie-nee”.
Conway developed Tiny within combinatorial game theory. His book On Numbers and Games presented it in 1976; the book Winning Ways used Tiny and Miny to represent threats in game examples in 1982. Later examples use positions in the games Toppling Dominoes and Domineering to show such values arising during play.
This is specialist notation for combinatorial-game values.
Without game-theory context, its plus-like shape can suggest ordinary addition.

1Why does ⧾ show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.

A visible symbol can contain several code points. JS .length counts UTF-16 units; UTF-8 counts bytes.
