What 󠆒 means
In a registered sequence, it distinguishes glyph forms.
A variation sequence pairs a Han character, used in Chinese, Japanese, and some Korean writing, with a selector to preserve its drawn form in plain text. The same selector number can mark different variants after different base characters.
Why is VS163 invisible?
It has no visible shape of its own.
A font or app without support for the registered pair shows the base character normally and ignores the selector.

Worth knowing
- This supplementary set extends earlier selectors. A 2001 proposal cited personal names, East Asian font sets, and South Korean variants needed for the Tripitaka, a Buddhist scripture collection; pair registration began in 2007.
Questions people ask
1Why does 󠆒 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
