What 󠆬 means
Only as part of a registered pair. Unicode variation sequences request a glyph (printed shape) without encoding every variant as a new character. The IVD registers each pair under a collection, a named set of glyph designs for a user community. Its 2003 Unicode date marks this control's encoding, not the history of the glyph differences it can represent.
The selector number alone names no language or universal shape; its effect depends on the paired ideograph.

Questions people ask
1Why is VS189 invisible?
Variation selectors have no standalone printed shape. When a sequence is invalid or unsupported, the base character remains as usual and the selector stays invisible; a font must support a registered pair to show its requested variant.
