What 󠅂 means
Place it immediately after the character whose form the sequence specifies.
An ideographic variation sequence (IVS) is a pair of text characters: the base character followed by its selector. If a font supports that registered pair, it can display the requested glyph form. The distinction can matter in Chinese, Japanese, or Korean names and in historical records.
Plane 14 variant tags were proposed in 1997. Plane 14 is a special-use area beyond Unicode's Basic Multilingual Plane, its main character range; this selector range entered Unicode in 2003.
Why does VS83 disappear?
It has no standalone glyph, so it can vanish without changing the base.
Unicode treats VS83 as default-ignorable: text can contain it while ordinary display hides it. If an app or font does not support the exact base-plus-selector pair, the base remains visible and VS83 stays hidden. An unregistered sequence is not a reliable way to force a different shape.
Technical and invisible; it requests a glyph distinction from software, not a tone or mood.
Sent alone, it has no portable visible meaning.

No. It can request a glyph form for one preceding character; it does not style a word or sentence.

A visible symbol can contain several code points. JS .length counts UTF-16 units; UTF-8 counts bytes.
