What 🩬 means
It captures by jumping over exactly one piece. That intervening piece is its screen and may belong to either side. Without a screen, the cannon moves along clear horizontal or vertical lines.
In a xiangqi score or board diagram, 🩬 identifies Black's cannon as a piece; by itself, it does not mark a particular move.
Why does it look different in different fonts?
Fonts may draw the same piece in different styles. The common black-cannon design uses 砲; some fonts use 炮, while others show a cannon picture.
Xiangqi diagrams dated 1330–1333 and 1610 preserve older piece labels, and older bronze game pieces are also documented.

3Questions people ask
1Why does 🩬 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
