What ꅅ means
It represents one spoken syllable in Yi writing.
In the standard Liangshan spelling, ddox uses Latin letters; its final x marks secondary-high pitch—the voice's pitch level—not a final consonant. The spelling guides pronunciation; it is not a word definition.
The oldest securely dated surviving examples of Yi writing are 15th-century bell inscriptions. Traditional forms were preserved chiefly by bimo, Yi ritual specialists, in ritual, magical, medical and historical texts. Later, the Liangshan standard supported literacy, textbooks, newspapers and everyday work; it is one regional standard, not universal across Yi dialects. The Cuan script is treated as an antecedent to later Yi forms, a connection between writing traditions. Modern Liangshan layouts follow Han Chinese text direction and punctuation, but the characters still write Yi.
