What ꈓ means
A Yi syllable, not a fixed English word.
In the Liangshan standard for Nuosu, Yi Pinyin uses kur as the input spelling for ꈓ. The syllable's word meaning comes from the language variety and sentence around it.
Traditional Yi writing was used by bimo, religious ritual specialists, in ritual work. The script's beginnings are uncertain; the earliest surviving artifacts cited in scholarship date to the 15th–16th centuries. Nuosu, Nasu, Nisu, Sani, and Azhe are Yi language varieties. The Liangshan standard for Nuosu was assembled in the 1970s and approved in 1980. It has been used in schools, newspapers, signs, and religious writing, alongside Chinese punctuation.
