What ꃃ means
It is the high-tone Nuosu syllable pronounced roughly “moo.” The oldest securely dated evidence of Yi writing is a bronze bell from 1485; paper texts appear around 1500. Bimo, Yi ritual specialists, used variable forms in ritual and medical writing. Devised in 1974 and promulgated in 1980, the Liangshan standard reshaped classical Yi as a phonetic syllabary—one sign per syllable—for Nuosu, not every Yi variety.
Use it in Liangshan Nuosu text.
In Yi Pinyin, final t marks high tone; it is not spoken.
