What ꆈ means
Its translation depends on the Nuosu word around it. Older Yi forms served ritual, medical, magical, and genealogical writing. A bronze bell from 1485 is the earliest commonly cited surviving monument of Yi writing. Devised in 1974 and promulgated in 1980, the Liangshan standard assigned one sign per Nuosu syllable to support literacy. It grew from local Yi traditions, not from Han Chinese or neighboring writing systems.
A Nuosu syllable; opaque without Yi literacy.

Questions people ask
1Why does ꆈ show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
