What ꑯ means
It represents a syllable; read its meaning in the surrounding Yi text.
Bimo, Yi ritual specialists, preserved Yi writing in religious, magical, medical and genealogical texts. Surviving evidence reaches the fifteenth century; earlier origins remain disputed. Older forms, called Cuan or Wei, varied by region. The modern Liangshan standard took shape in 1974 and was formally promulgated in 1980 to support literacy in one dialect.

1Why does ꑯ show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
