What 𐄗 means
It marks eighty in historical records. In Linear A, a Bronze Age writing system used on Crete and nearby sites, 𐄗 marks eighty in the Aegean numeral system, attested from 1800–1450 BCE (before the Common Era). Linear A wrote the Minoan language, the local language of Bronze Age Crete. Clay tablets and other inscribed objects preserve transactions alongside religious and practical uses.
Linear B, a later script for Mycenaean Greek (an early form of Greek), used the same number signs from 1400–1190 BCE; 𐄗 appears on a Linear B tablet. Most surviving Linear B tablets are inventories and accounts, and its measurement units differed from Linear A's. The wider numeral system also appears with the Cypriot syllabary, an ancient script used for Greek on Cyprus; lower number signs are attested there.
