What 𐄤 means
It records a quantity of three thousand.
The broader family of Aegean number signs, called arithmograms, first appears in Cretan Hieroglyphic records, a Minoan writing system used on Crete, dated about 2000/1900–1700/1650 BCE. Linear A documents from about 1800–1450 BCE show integer signs in administrative records of goods, quantities, and totals.
The notation was additive and base ten: larger denominations came before smaller ones. Related arithmograms recur in Cretan Hieroglyphic, Linear A, Linear B, Cypro-Minoan, and the Cypriot syllabary. Linear B adapted the shared signs for Greek records and explicit measurement units.
Why does 𐄤 show as a box?
A font without Aegean-number support may show a box.
The visible design comes from the font. Without Aegean Numbers coverage, you may see an empty box, a fallback character, or a different design. That display difference does not change the numeral's historical value.
