What does 𑜼 mark?
It marks a short phrase-level break in Ahom text.
The oldest surviving Ahom text is the Snake Pillar inscription, from King Siuw Hum Miung’s reign (1497–1539). Ahom belongs to a wider Lik Tai writing tradition that developed in Moeng Maw through contact with Old Burmese and Old Mon scripts.
Ahom declined as an everyday language in the late 17th century, but traditional priests continued using its script for religious practice through the 19th century. A modern revival is conventionally dated to a dictionary published in 1920; later, computer support accelerated publication in Ahom.
