What 𑜻 means
It is the written Ahom word for twenty.
Traditional Ahom numerals could mix signs with number words rather than follow a decimal system. Modern use adds zero for decimal notation.
How did Ahom writing change?
The script recorded Tai Ahom in northeast India.
It appears in inscriptions, coins, brass plates, and manuscripts. The oldest surviving text is the Snake Pillar inscription, from King Siuw Hum Miung's reign (1497–1539). Tai Ahom use declined in the late 17th century; priests kept the language and script in religious practice through the 19th century. Modern use is traced to a 1920 Ahom-Assamese-English dictionary.
