What ﮆ means
It represents Sindhi’s implosive d, /ɗ/.
An implosive is made by forming a closure and drawing air inward. Sindhi adapted Arabic script with extra or altered letters for sounds not distinguished in standard Arabic writing; dul is one of them.
Is this the form used in modern Sindhi?
No. Modern Sindhi uses ڏ for dul.
Al-Biruni’s Kitab al-Hind, completed in 1030, describes local scripts and letters adapted for Sindhi sounds. Sindhi was written in several scripts; its Perso-Arabic alphabet was standardized in 1853. Unicode 18.0 lists ڎ as an older shape for dul, obsolete in Sindhi, and ڏ as the current Sindhi shape.
Does it mean the same sound everywhere?
No. Some Burushaski spellings used ڎ for /ts/.
That is the ts sound in one syllable. A Burusho Maʰraka comparison published in 2022 records ڎ for /ts/ in earlier Burushaski systems, while its 2022 column writes c for that sound. The letter’s reading depends on the language being written.

Questions people ask
1Why does ﮆ show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
