What 𖡸 means
The catalogue records taam as a Bamum reading, not an English translation.
King Njoya developed the first Bamum system in 1896–97 as a picture-based memory aid; a surviving first-phase manuscript is dated 1897. Phase B, called Mbima (“mixed”), followed around 1899–1900 as he simplified the system. It ran left to right and was used by a small group at the royal court. Later revisions produced a syllabary, where signs represent syllables. Specialists study these older forms as part of Bamum language and history.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𖡸 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
