What 🨤 means
The surrounding problem determines any special role.
Fairy chess adds new or altered pieces to ordinary chess. A turned queen may stand for a grasshopper, a piece that leaps over another piece, and a turned knight for a nightrider, which repeats a knight's move in one direction; the turned king has no fixed counterpart. In the era of metal type, printers could turn cast-metal chess-piece sorts—small raised metal blocks used in printing—upside down to print symbols for chess problems and commentary.
Display is conditional on font coverage: a font without this glyph may show a box or fallback mark.

Questions people ask
1Why does 🨤 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
