What 🖜 means
It points left toward nearby words or an item.
The manicule, literally “little hand,” was a hand readers drew in the margins of handwritten books to flag a passage they might want to find again. The earliest examples are recorded from the late eleventh and twelfth centuries.
Printing turned that reader's mark into a repeatable typographic sign. As arrows took over many of the same jobs, the pointing hand kept a bookish feel.
What does it mean when someone sends 🖜?
Read it as a nudge to notice what it points toward.
After words or a link, the left-facing finger directs you back to that target. Sent alone, it asks for attention but leaves the subject and emotion open.

No. It has no standardized emoji presentation or skin-tone sequence; its appearance is drawn by the font.
Does “black” mean a skin tone?
No. In this naming pattern, “black” means a filled shape and “white” means an outline; neither describes a person's skin.
