What 🞙 means
By itself, it has no agreed reading.
A 2012 Unicode proposal maps 🞙 to Wingdings' “black diamond 4,” fourth in six sizes. Wingdings, designed in 1990 and 1991 and released in 1992, offered geometric options for bullets and ornaments. Unicode extended the set to complement existing shapes and make the symbols searchable as text.
In math, diamond size can distinguish a variable from an operator in some notations; fonts control its exact proportions.
