What ┏ means
It joins the heavy top edge to the heavy left edge. Put it at a text box’s top-left, where the frame turns down the side.
The broader family continues a character-cell graphics tradition used before 1990, when computers built frames from aligned text. IBM PC Code Page 437, a computer character set, included related line-drawing symbols. Videotex, a text-based information service, also distinguished light and heavy strokes in standards from November 1988.
Why does ┏ look broken?
The text may no longer line up by character cell. These strokes are designed to meet at each cell’s midpoint. Proportional spacing, mixed fallback fonts, or altered line height can leave gaps or change the apparent weight.
A monospaced font keeps a diagram’s columns aligned. If the symbol appears as an empty square, the active font or app lacks a usable glyph; choose a font that includes it.
How can I type ┏?
On Windows, Character Map provides a built-in way to insert it. In source code or text formats that support Unicode escapes, \u250F represents the character.
