What ᨑ means
It writes ra with an inherent “a.” Add a vowel sign to change the syllable.
Lontara writing emerged around 1400 in South Sulawesi. Early Lontara family records traced ancestry, established social status and supported claims to rule; this was not routine paperwork. Later texts included diaries, treaties, maps and chronicles. It was used to write the Bugis, Makasar and Mandar languages. Lontara is a Brahmi-type script, meaning it belongs to a broad family of related scripts; it has possible ties to Javanese writing and an affinity with Tagalog writing.
