What ꩐ means
It is the zero digit in Cham numerals.
Cham numerals in dates and number strings write quantities as well as calendar dates. Cham script is used more by Eastern Cham, while Western Cham communities often use Arabic script instead; the writing context varies, but the digit's value stays zero.
What is the history of Cham script?
Cham writing developed from Pallava-derived Brahmi traditions.
Brahmi is an older writing system from South Asia. The fourth-century Vo Canh stele, an inscribed stone monument, is early evidence of Pallava writing in Champa; it does not date this individual digit.
In the early 20th century, a Cham calendar used native numerals to choose timing for weddings, funerals, and holidays. Its origins are said to reach back to the 17th century.
