What ꨑ means
It marks a “ny” consonant at the start of a syllable.
Its sound is the palatal nasal heard in Spanish ñ, as in año (“year”). Unmarked, ꨑ carries an inherent a vowel; the other Eastern Cham palatal-nasal letter, ꨐ, carries a different inherent vowel, so the two form different syllables.
Cham script belongs to a tradition related to the ancient Brahmi script and its South Indian Pallava forms. The earliest known Cham text is the inscription catalogued as C.174, dated to the 4th or 5th century; in Champa, writing served royal and temple life. A 2019 account of Cambodian Islamic manuscripts describes Cham writing alongside Arabic and notes that preserving the manuscripts supported community identity.
How do I type ꨑ?
Use a Cham-aware keyboard or input method.
The Latin spelling nha names the letter but is not a universal conversion shortcut; typing it in an ordinary text field will not produce ꨑ.
Cham vowel signs are encoded after their consonant base, though some display on its left. A missing Cham font can show a box; the text character remains ꨑ.
A technical, language-specific letter: it reads as Eastern Cham writing, not a general reaction.
A lone ꨑ will not reliably communicate a mood to someone who cannot read Eastern Cham.

1Why does ꨑ show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
