What ㊭ means
It serves as a compact business label. Japanese 企 means “plan” or “undertake”; with 業 (“work”), it forms 企業, “business organization.”
Enclosed characters belong to a legacy East Asian typographic tradition. Japan’s JIS X 0208 text-encoding standard was established in 1978; that dates the standard, not ㊭’s first use.
Formal and specialized; it reads like a compact Japanese business label.
As of 2026-09-06, fonts and older Japanese mail or document systems may display or transmit enclosed characters differently.

1Questions people ask
1Why does ㊭ show as a box on some devices?
Not every system ships a font for the Enclosed CJK Letters and Months block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
